Byers Avenue United Methodist Church 20th Annual Independence Day Pie Sale will be Wednesday - Saturday, July 3-6, 2013. Usually a 3-day event, it has been extended one "Moore" day this year to raise funds for tornado relief efforts in Oklahoma. One-fourth of the profits from the four-day fundraiser will be donated to benefit victims of the Moore Oklahoma tornado.

Pies must be ordered in advance and picked up on the day specified. A large variety are made completely from scratch from top-secret recipes. Ladies, men and youth of the church work long hours to raise money for special causes and to assist the church with capital purchases. Two years ago proceeds went to Joplin tornado relief and this year they want to send some love to Moore.

The strength of any community lies in the values and morals of the people who live and provide leadership in that given community.  I believe it is the responsibility of the church to help each person find a positive and godly direction in his or her own life.

I believe God leads us into a particular church to grow personally but also where we can best serve God.  Where we are united with others in a common goal, where we are able to do greater things for the glory of God.  I was raised to pray to the one true God, to honor our country, and serve in our community.

Knowing and experiencing God in many ways in my life and seeing God at work in the lives of others has given evidence of God’s unlimited power and ways of working in His creation.

To God Be the Glory, AMEN
